Summer Graphic Design Internship

I spent three months working with the incredible team at MKG, where I contributed to 28 projects across 23 high-profile clients. Experiential design is a huge passion of mine because it feels like one of the last true forms of physical media and print. I’m drawn to larger-than-life ideas, creating moments that bring people together in real life, and exploring the intersection of human interaction and technology.
Working at an agency has been a goal of mine since I was young, and the experience exceeded everything I hoped for. Being part of a collaborative team of designers, guided by strong creative directors and surrounded by talented professional women, helped me grow into who I am today both as a designer and as a professional. From being on site to print checks to designing the agency’s pride month pin, I truly felt like the team was fully behind me. Additionally, I documented my entire internship through polaroids and film photography, I’m very sentimental.

I used a lot of Adobe After Effects during my internship particularly for the agency rebrand MKG was going through at the time. I would take requests and inspiration that the head of creative would give me and animate what they wanted from the developer.

I had the absolute honor of designing a sheet of flash tattoos for Spotify’s Romantacy Themed Forbid-Inn event in NYC to promote the addition of audiobooks as a feature for premium Spotify users. I have previously completed a tattoo apprenticeship and MKG empowered me to draw these and then digitize them. They were turned into temporary tattoos as part of a “Marking Ritual” as one of the events activities. I also had the pleasure of overseeing prop dressing, installation of graphics, and being a part of the strike team.
I worked on a number of the Wednesday Season 2 Premier events in a number of small ways, and I was able to help out on site for both installation and for the strike. I designed the wax seal stickers for the epithet station, pictured above. I was also tasked with designing pre-screen activities such as photoshopping spot the difference photos, or screens/signs directing people toward the show’s social media handles.

I worked all summer on the Gap x Beis launch at their Times Square location which was incredibly rewarding. From site visits to print checks this truly was my first time seeing a project from start to completion. I learned so much from watching the creative director, Katy, ideate on what she wanted to do with the space. My manager Quincy Lewis was the design lead and being able to take on some of their responsibilities was so valuable.

I came to MKG when they were halfway through designing target pride when the concept was changed at the last minute. I got the opportunity to experience a fast paced change and learned to adapt and make the most of our resources when pivoting from one idea to another at the last minute. It was my first time doing an install and doing print checks and I learned so much.
